When it comes to recruiting in this day and age, social media is a MUST. The truth is - social media can give recruiters more superpowers than they have ever had before. Today recruiters can reach mass amounts of potential employees, make connections, and source; leveraging social media to build a huge pipeline of candidates, increase brand awareness, and get involved in meaningful conversations within their community and industry.

Social media is one of the most powerful and effective tools an organization has. Almost no one is walking into an organization, filling out an application, and turning it in. To that effect, very few are finding those organizations while reading their daily newspaper and sipping a cup of coffee. In fact, 92% of companies are using social media for hiring - and not just through LinkedIn. But - let's talk LinkedIn for a minute. This platform is great for building your connections with people in the industries you commonly recruit for and can expose you to qualified job seekers.

Reach Job Seekers

Actively posting and engaging with your social media network on your various platforms (think Facebook, Twitter, and even Instagram in addition to the aforementioned LinkedIn) means that when you do post that job opening, it's more likely to get noticed. Also, don't forget to #hashtag. Not a fan? A hashtag is a great way to get your post in front of potential job seekers you may not already be engaged with. Still not sold? Take a look at #sanantoniojobs or #jobseekers...

Showcase Your Organizational Culture & Build Your Pipeline

Openly post and share about what it's like to work at your organization. Share articles and accolades, photos from events, even recognition or awards you've personally been given - the list goes on. Today's candidates are looking for an authentic peek into what your organization is all about. In turn, open up a dialogue with your connections who would be a good culture fit for your company - whether they are actively seeking a job or not.

Establish Your Social Strategy... & Credibility

Social media is fun, but when using it as a recruiting tool, it's best to establish a strategy before diving in willy-nilly. Take note of your organization's values, and create posts and interactions that align. Keep in mind that not only will you be representing your company, but also establishing yourself as a credible source of information and expert in both your field and industry.
